The Monkey Puzzle Tree collaborated with Sarah Jane Palmer to create the Body Lace Voile. Sarah has explored respectability and sensuality in this design to create a voile printed with a subtle erotic design. At first glance, this traditional net curtain depicts dainty florals and leaf motifs, but a closer look reveals series of a couple engaged in erotic acts. 

“I’d been playing around with patterns and eroticism for a while,” says Sarah, “and when I found out that my great-great-grandfather was a Nottingham lace designer, I decided to try and incorporate an erotic element into a traditional lace design. ‘Body Lace’ looks quite contemporary, but the depiction of two figures engaged in an erotic act was actually inspired by a drawing on a Fifth Century Greek plate. I wanted to reference the eroticism that has existed in art and design throughout history. At first you don’t see the couples, but when you make out their shapes you have the notion of something forbidden hiding beneath the respectability of a traditional net curtain.”

Use the Body Lace as a subtle statement in a room to bring characterful privacy to a bedroom or bathroom.
