Jeffery Rose Tree Vintage Velvet in Orchard
The flowers for both Zennor Forest and Jeffery Rose Tree furnishing fabrics were sketched by hand and then drawn in pencil onto tracing paper, gradually building up the tree. The abundant theme of the fabric is roses, which were referenced in the book. The tree represents a mythological tree of beauty, blooming and rising up resplendent as the final monument to all they had achieved in the garden and relating to past memories of heady rose trees swinging through the garden and enveloping it. The trunk marries all the designs in the collection, illustrating a connection to everything that has happened throughout the story and bonding them all together to create fresh new life. Zennor Forest print has been re-worked into a half drop, half the size of the original, whereas Jeffery Rose Tree is a full width repeat. Both designs were hand-drawn and hand-painted over many months.
The Modern Archive Collection spotlights Liberty’s rich history of storytelling for every generation of modern interiors.
